One of the paths which used to cross old Vyšehrad went through a mouse hole, which is there to this day. They say in those places, where the path went through trough sculpted by rain, beings from the other worlds appear. The legend of White Persona (Person in white robes or the White lady, if you wish), as told by writings of Popelka Biliánová, tells the story of two Vyšehrad girls who, after a warm summer’s day, went off to Pankrác to enjoy some music. After they both had enough fun with their young fellows and the midnight was nigh, an acquaintance of theirs proposed to accopmany them through the desolace of Vyšehrad fortress grounds home, as he had the same journey ahead of him. The gentlaman’s name was Vencl. Maybe it was due to him spending the whole afternoon at the celebration, maybe he just drank too much; however, during the walk he fell to his passion and, in tension, he tried to take on one of the girls. His mind must’ve really been clouded, as the girl got him off her as he tumbled into the rye that used to grow there. Mister Vencl got up on his feet and, mumbling and swearing, he decided to follow the girls. As he stumbled to the mouse hole, he noticed a person standing there. Thinking it was one of the girls he slowed down. He was thinking she was wearing her white skirt over her head as a veil and spoke to her, softly: „Oh, Katie, how sweet from you to wait for me. Come on, you little fool, I shall do you no harm“ as he wanted to take the person’s hand and lead her down the stairs. He reached where he supposed was the girl’s gentle elbow, yet all he felt under his hand was just a stick. In the very moment when he grabbed this weird stump, the persona bursted into the air and threw itself down the stairs in a nosedive, taking him with it. Down on the town hall’s stairs where the lights were lit mister Vencl attempted to turn around in the flight and lay eyes upon this horrific being that dragged him through the night. He didn’t notice a single trait of human face nor any other sign of human body under the robes, which spooked him entirely and he hit the stairs so hard that a stake he fell on pierced his eye. For the rest of his life he was wandering around the old Vyšehrad and Nusle, an one-eyed cripple, telling this tale.
Jedna z cest, která procházela starým Vyšehradem, vedla také Myší dírou, která je na místě dodnes. V těchto místech, kde vedla cesta vymletým korytem po deštích, se údajně zjevovaly a dodnes zjevují bytosti z jiných světů. Pověst o Bílé postavě (Postavě v bílém rouchu, Bílé paní, chcete-li), která se uchovala ve spisech Popelky Biliánové vypráví příběh dvou vyšehradských dívek, které se vydaly po horkém letním dnu za muzikou na Pankrác. Když se obě s místní omladinou pobavily a už se blížila půlnoc, nabídl jim jeden známý, že je doprovodí přes pusté vyšehradské hradiště domů, protože má stejnou cestu. Vencl se ten pán jmenoval a možná proto, že byl na zábavě už od brzkého odpoledne, nebo si snad dal o skleničku navíc, propadl při doprovázení dívek slabosti a v návalu tenze se pokusil jedné z dívek zmocnit. Nejspíš měl skutečně zastřenou mysl, protože se mu dívka vysmýkla a povalila ho do žita, které se tam tehdy pěstovalo, a utekla. Pan Vencl se s láteřením a sakrováním zvedl a jal se obě dívky pronásledovat. Když se dobelhal k Myší díře nad schody, zahlédl zde stojící postavu. V domnění, že se jedná o jednu z dívek, zvolnil tempo. Myslel si, že má dívka přetaženou bílou sukni přes hlavu a tak k ní začal milým hlasem promlouvat: „Ale – Kačenko – to jsi hodná, žes na mne počkala. Jdi – hloupá – vždyť já ti nic neudělám“ a chtěl domnělou dívku vzít za ruku a svést ze schodů. Natáhl ruku k místům, kde tušil jemný loket mladé dívky – nahmatal však jen jakýsi klacík. V momentě, kdy za ten divný pahýl zabral se postava v bílém vzedmula a strhla ho ve střemhlavém letu ze schodů dolů s sebou. Dole na radničních schodech, kde hořela lampička, se pokusil pan Vencl v letu otočit a pohlédnout na děsivé stvoření, které ho unáší nocí. V bílé loktuši nenašel jediný rys tváře, či snad jiný náznak hmoty lidského těla. Vylekal se a zbývajících několik schodů se skutálel tak nekontrolovatelně, že si o kolík trčící ze země vyrazil oko. Po zbytek života potom chodil po starém Vyšehradě a Nuslích jako jednooký mrzák a vypravoval tuto hrůzostrašnou historii.
